I've had some experience with another vendor's device manager, so I was looking for this specific feature. I considered importing via a script as well but luckily I asked an HP tech first. If it wasn't available, I was going to make the request. Mass renaming devices is such a time saver!
Ouch. I hoped I would be able to respond in time but at least it's available for you or anyone else who needs it now.
